13ish years ago we were given this club chair (and matching couch, which we no longer own and is a whole other argument) for free. It belonged to Grandma Sara. Not my grandmother, mind you, but the paternal grandmother of some of my cousins. She passed away one week before we were married, and we were the grateful recipients of her furniture. Let me just start by saying I LOVE this chair. It is extremely well made, has lovely lines, and is substantial without being too big. That being said it is, as you can see, very orange.
And, that's the problem. Dean prefers the chair in all its orange glory. I think this chair would feel much better dressed in teal velvet. I know I can BUY a new chair for as much as it would cost to recover this one, but I have looked and looked and I cannot find one I'm totally in love with.
I promised Dean I would put it out there for a vote, so feel free to weigh in.
Below are some examples of velvety loveliness, just in case you're having a hard time picturing it in any other color....
Just imagine how soft and luxurious it could be.
Thoughts?
We're open to suggestions.
Thank you in advance. I wish I spent this much time researching my children's food or at least something more important than a chair...
I almost cried when I saw my grandmas chair. I forgot that you had it. I love the idea of the teal. So glad you still have it.
ReplyDeleteOh, that there is reason alone to not buy a new chair but rather make this one just right for you. I LOVE the top one, but really any of these shades of blue would be lovely. I think Dean will appreciate it once it's done. I can't wait to see it.
ReplyDeleteI really don't have an opinion, you'll figure it out, everything you do always looks great... however I do have to say every time I see a teal chair I'm reminded of the foyer chairs at the church... does that steer you in any direction????
